Treating Financial Services Consumers Fairly

Whether you’re buying auto insurance or home insurance from an insurance agent, working with a mortgage broker to get a mortgage, or considering using the services of a credit union or loan and trust corporation, as a financial services consumer you have a right to expect fair treatment.

Like the right to know the promotion of a financial product or service you’re considering is clear and fair, not misleading or false.

That your financial service provider will tell you if they have any conflicts of interest, such as them offering or or selling you a product based on their commission.

That the financial service provider is recommending products or services that are suitable to your personal circumstances and financial needs.

That they’ll protect your private information and inform you of any privacy breaches.

And that they will identify any risks that the financial product or service may have so you can make an informed decision.
