IN THE MATTER OF the Mortgage Brokerage, Lenders and Administrators Act, 2006,
S.O. 2006, c. 29, as amended (the “Act”), in particular section 35;
AND IN THE MATTER OF Romola Anandarajah.
On July 8, 2021, and by delegated authority from the Chief Executive Officer of the Financial Services Regulatory Authority of Ontario (the “Chief Executive Officer”), the Director, Litigation & Enforcement (the “Director”) issued a Notice of Proposal to make a permanent compliance order for Romola Anandarajah, also known as Ramona Anandarajah, Ronona Anandarajah, Mona Anandarajah, Meera Anandarajah, Mira Anandarajah, Mona Anand, and Jenny Anandarajah, to cease dealing in mortgages without being licensed under the Act, contrary to subsection 2(3) of the Act.
The Notice of Proposal was delivered to Romola Anandarajah on or about August 11, 2021. Section 35(4) of the Act provides that any person on whom a Notice of Proposal is delivered has fifteen (15) days after the Notice of Proposal is received to request a hearing by the Financial Services Tribunal (the “Tribunal”).
On October 6, 2021, the Registrar of the Tribunal confirmed that Romola Anandarajah did not request a hearing by the Tribunal in accordance with section 35(4) of the Act. Therefore, pursuant to section 35(6) of the Act and section 7 of O. Reg. 190/08, the Director makes the following order.
It is hereby ordered that Romola Anandarajah, also known as Ramona Anandarajah, Ronona Anandarajah, Mona Anandarajah, Meera Anandarajah, Mira Anandarajah, Mona Anand, and Jenny Anandarajah, permanently cease dealing in mortgages without being licensed under the Act, for the reasons set out in the Notice of Proposal.
