Commissioner’s Guideline No. 1/98
This guideline is issued pursuant to Section 268.3 of the Insurance Act.
This guideline applies to all accidents occurring on or after March 7, 1998 and is intended to help insurers, claimants and providers distinguish exceptional cases, or to trigger special consideration.
A treatment plan containing podiatry services in excess of $500.00 will serve as a flag for exceptional cases requiring further review and assessment. This amount is inclusive of treatment costs, orthotics (but not drugs) and other goods and services not otherwise covered by the Ontario Health Insurance Plan.
