The Financial Services Commission of Ontario’s (FSCO) Pension Services Portal (PSP) has been operating successfully since March 31, 2010. We are pleased with the positive feedback we have received from the pension industry and would like to provide you an update on electronic filing through the PSP.
What Can be Filed Through the PSP?
The PSP provides you and/or designated third parties/agents the option to electronically file all prescribed filings:
- Annual Information Return (AIR);
- Investment Information Summary (IIS);
Pension Benefits Guarantee Fund Assessment Certificate (PBGF);
- Actuarial Valuation Report/Actuarial Information Summary (AIS); and
- Pension Plan/Fund Financial Statements (FS).
It enables you and/or designated third parties/agents to complete, submit and verify the status of your electronic filings online.
Electronic Filings Become Mandatory on January 1, 2013
Effective January 1, 2013, electronic filing will become the only method available to submit filings that have a due date on or after January 1, 2013.
Upcoming Changes for AIRs
The PSP currently provides two options for filing an AIR:
- you can complete the online fillable form, or
- upload the information in XML format.
After reviewing both of these options, we observed that only a small number of AIRs were received in XML format. Therefore, the option to upload an AIR in XML format will no longer be available as of January 1, 2013.
